Hanging a screen door

This topic is available here on The Repair-Place forum
Hi Guru,

This may seem pretty simple to a lot of people but, how difficult is it for an non-handy person to hang a screen door? Is hanging a door better left to experts?
Well if you're talking about an aluminum or all vinyl screen/storm door from, let's say, HomeDepot or some other home center, it really is on a scale from 1 to 5, (5 the hardest) a 1. Maybe a 2 if the door you are trying to put the screen door on is not a normal size. The storm doors come with a tools needed list (like a hacksaw to cut the frame and a drill with some bits) and detailed instructions on how to cut the frame pieces to fit your door, how to install them and then hang the door / hardware.

If your door is a 3-0 x 6-8 (36" x 80") then all the screen door companies will work. If you have a taller or weird width door only a few will custom manufature to fit.
