I need to have a desk and a dresser refinished because of wear and severe water staining. Do you have any ideas on finding a good refinisher?

Word of mouth is probably the best advice. Or look around at some consignment shops or antique shops and ask there. You could also look in the local paper, but make sure they let you look at some repaired and refinished pieces.
