How do I reset a tripped circuit breaker?

This topic is available here on The Repair-Place forum
I have a breaker that is tripped and was wondering how to reset it correctly.
Go to the breaker panel and bring a flashlight. Find the breaker that shows red in the window, or seems to be in the ‘middle’ position. That means not off and not on but in the middle. Feel the front of the breaker with your finger. If it feels hot to the touch then you have overloaded that circuit and should turn off anything that is plugged into those outlets. Turn the breaker to the off position. This resets it. Then turn it to the on position.
