Should I use low voltage lighting in my kitchen?

This topic is available here on The Repair-Place forum
I need to install under counter lighting for my kitchen counter.
Should I use low voltage lighting?

Could you tell me the pro’s and con’s?

Thank You!
If you decide to go with under cabinet lighting, low voltage is the way. There are little hockey puck sized fixtures that mount directly to the bottom of the cabinets and then a small lamp cord wire is run to a transformer (usually 12 volts). This is convenient for the retro fit as the wire is small and easy to hide, and the transformer can be mounted up over the cabinets, or inside a cabinet, or in the basement with a switch on the wall where needed.
