This topic is available here on The Repair-Place forum | Hi, I don't know if this is the right thing to do...
I have an antique table that could use some refinishing. There are slight cracks in the finish (not the wood itself) and there are some scratches on the edges. Should I refinish it? |
| Well, that’s a tough question. If the table is worth anything now, refinishing could make it worth considerably less. I would have it assessed by an expert to see if refinishing will enhance or detract from the value. But then on the other hand you own it and have to live with the furniture too.
I would not attempt to refinish it yourself if it is worth a lot. Take it to an expert. Watch the Antique Road Show on PBS and you will see what I mean. | |
