Price Pfister handle keeps falling

This topic is available here on The Repair-Place forum
I bought my Price Pfister high arc faucet from the Home Depot 1 year ago. I do not know the part number on the faucet, but the package i bought comes with a three separate parts, the handle, high arc spout, and a soap dispenser. There is no base, so can put your handle on the left or right of the faucet.
The problem I am having is with the handle, it won't stay up while the water is flowing, it falls down and only a tiny trickle of water will come out. When you turn on the water full blast the handle will stay up, but any where else the handle falls. To sum it up I only have water coming out out either full blast or a tiny trickle.
I took the handle out of my counter and the handle has three hoses.(cold, hot, and a line to the faucet). I was looking for set screw or something to tighten up handle but there is nothing. Does the faucet unscrew? Please help.
Hey! Sorry to hear about your loose handle...
Here is the document from Price Pfister's web site. It is about 18 meg so I can't post it here, but I can post the link to it.... Look up the one that looks like your model and you should be able to determine what is wrong or what part you may need...

Re the 'falling handle' issue, I think you misunderstood the problem, Mr. The Guru. Unfortunately for me I bought *two* similar Price Pfister faucets and both had the same problem - the water wouldn't stay on and the handle just wouldn't stay up.

I took mine apart looking for something to adjust, fruitlessly. Put it back together and have lived with it like that for ~2 years.

Finally I decided to not be a knucklehead any longer and call the manufacturer. Once I got through to their rep (on a Saturday no less!) she helped me identify the model I had (a 533-50SS, just FYI), and asked me 'what finish'? I replied 'stainless steel' and she promptly replied, 'I'm going to mail you out new lighter handles to replace the ones you have'.

Brilliant! Gold star for PP for standing behind their product well past the warranty for what was apparently a common problem. Replacing the handle will take about 10 seconds per faucet.

I only wish I had got of my a$$ and called them 2 years ago.

Excellent news!

Thanks for sharing it.
I'm no genius....but after a couple of years of just accepting this as a design flaw i was sick of it. I had been shoving a piece of paper towel up under the handle to hold it there, so I finally decided to jump online and fix this thing!

I was surprised that there was no quick fix offered. So i looked at the "parts diagram" on the PP website.

I noticed that what I had always assumed was just a sticker with the PP logo on it was actually labeled as a "button"!

Yep a button!

Just pop it off and there is a phillips screw behind it that adjusts the tension.....

2 seconds and, POOF!!! No more falling handle!

After 2 years of stupidity/laziness/frustration, I can now run water fast, slow, or in between! Sometimes it's the little things in life!

Hope this saves someone else some time and aggravation!
This was great!!! Ours has been falling for about a year and I fixed it in two minutes by removing the button and tightening the screw.

Awesome tip!!
